Domaine la Barroche has been in the same family since the 14th century. The 12 hectare estate consists of several different plots, all of which are in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, mainly in the North and Northeast parts. Domaine la Barroche has the balance unique character, and spirit of the finest Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In keeping with a long family tradition, we have amply demonstrated our determination to excel, and aim to offer you nothing less than the best possible wine. This wine combines equal measures of two seemingly opposite grapes: 100-year-old Grenache and young Syrah. However, these two varieties complement one another beautifully: a fusion of masculine and feminine – a silky blend of power and finesse with fresh fruit aromas accompanied by gingerbread and coconut nuances.Blending: 50% Grenache from the 100-year-old Terre Blances plot on early-ripening slopes. Wine from these grapes has considerable finesse and silkiness.
50% Syrah from the Cabrières plot, which contributes fruit, power, color, and cocoa aromas.
THE LABEL Carlos Pazos This label was designed by Barcelona artist Carlos Pazos, who was awarded Spain’s 2004 Plastic Arts Prize. He is a great lover of France, where he works a good part of the year. Carlos' drawing beautifully expresses the synergy of this atypical new blend from Domaine la Barroche. Both grape varieties are fermented in a single concrete tank.
Gentle extraction: cold pre-fermentation maceration for less than a week for the Syrah in order to retain all the fresh fruit aromas.
Maceration in tank for 4 weeks.
Ageing for 18 months in both Burgundy barrels and concrete. |
