2008 PETITE SIRAH - STEFANI VINEYARD DRY CREEK VALLEY

INTRODUCTION

Redbone wines come from the heart of Dry Creek Valley, where the soils are poor in nutrients, very free draining, and rocky to boot. When we talk boney these soils are just that. But man do these soils make intense wines. Rich, concentrated, and unforgiving., these wines have layers and layers of flavor that just last in the mouth!

VINEYARD PROFILE

Petite Sirah is one of the most amazing varieties to work with. Location is key and so I look for vineyards with great exposure combined with deep fertile soils. The reason for this is the vines can very easily stress with the grapes turning to raisins. I want a full powerful rich wine without the extremes in alcohol. Hence, the Stefani vineyard fits the bill. An undulating vineyard situated off the valley floor of Dry Creek with great exposure and rich soils, this vineyard produces Zinfandel and Petite Sirah that are totally uncompromising in varietal characters.

TASTING NOTES

Petite Sirah from the Stefani Ranch makes wines that are pure in character and rich in flavor. The nose is black pepper and spice and follows through onto the pallet making the entry sweet, round and fruity. The finish is powerful with great structure and supple tannins making the flavors last in the mouth. Enjoy the "Pets" as we call them here in Dry Creek!
