1: an act, process, or instance of representing in a medium (pinot noir) (a): something that manifests, embodies or symbolizes
When Bill Hill and Dick Wollack decided to develop a brand devoted to Pinot Noir made from grapes grown on vineyards spanning the west of California and into Oregon, they marked their map, stood back, and determined the defining element was "latitude." Hence each wine is labeled with the degree latitude of the appellation and defined as the "Expression" of that Latitude. From North to South they are:
Expression 44°- Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon
Expression 39°- Anderson Valley, California
Expression 38°- Sonoma Coast, California
Expression 34°- Santa Rita Hills, California |
