One of the larger AVA’s in Northern California, the Sonoma Coast encompasses the multiple meso-climates that could make a case for being their own discrete AVA’s. Both vineyards used for this appellation blend are located in an area known as the Petaluma Gap - a break in the coastal range that allows a large flow of cool maritime air and coastal fog directly from the Pacific Ocean. This factor combined with the southwest facing hillside locations makes for high acidity, intensely flavored fruit. The cool pacific breezes and coastal fog that make their way through the Petaluma Gap ensure the development of pristine and intense fruit. The fruit was whole cluster pressed and then fermented in French Oak barrels - of which less then 10% were new. The wine was stirred weekly and aged sur lies while completing the malo-lactic fermentation for optimum texture and balance. After 11 months in barrel the wine was bottle with out fining or filtration. The result of this process is a Chardonnay that exhibits great fruit and floral characteristics while maintaining excellent balance, minerality and texture.100% Barrel fermented French Oak Barrels 1yr,2yr,and 3years old Alcohol:14.5% Total Acidity(g/L)5.9 pH:3.57 RS (g/L):.02 Yields;4.8 tons/acre Cases Produced:1000 |
