2006 NAPA VALLEY RED

INTRODUCTION

Tetra – a harmonious fusion of four – is the culmination of over 30 years of vineyard design and wine-making experience of Napa Valley viticulture visionary Bill Hill.

VINEYARD PROFILE

The 2006 growing season began with a delayed budbreak, followed by a relatively mild growing season overall. These conditions required patience at harvest time to achieve fully ripened fruit, but this patience was rewarded with grapes which yielded wines of great richness and extract balanced by minerality and finesse. The Cabernet Sauvignon for this blend was grown on the Coombsville Vineyard. Located on gently-sloping terrain, this estate provides a micro-climate perfectly suited to growing muscular Cabernet Sauvignon wines exhibiting the distinctive lush fruit and provacative mouthfeel. Merlot and Petit Verdot were sourced from Bill Hill's home ranch, Broken Rock Vineyard, where rhyolitic sub-soils naturally devigorate vines, producing wines of concentration and elegance. The final element of this blend, Cabernet franc, was sourced from the Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard, a cooler down-valley site which, combined with a southwestern exposure and a rock-laden soil harvesting the sun's energy, delivers the exceptional ripeness necessary for both power and complexity.
