| Since 1987 Giancarlo and Nuccia’s youngest daughter Paola has managed the estate, starting from scratch. Under her guidance Poggio Antico has planted new vineyards, built a new wing with state of the art temperature controlled stainless-steel tanks, expanded the cellar where the wines refine in the bottle until their release, and built a marketing web to distribute them around the world. In 1998 Paola’s husband , Alberto Montefiori, joined her in managing the property. Today, Alberto is responsible for the entire production side of the business. They run the winery with a balance of corporate-style efficiency, high technology, and the sensitivity that characterizes a hands-on family firm, paying great attention to even the smallest details. This balance results in Brunellos that stand out for their elegance and charm, reflecting the distinctiveness of the estates’ terroir, without renouncing the possibilities permitted by the experimentation that typifies all vintners who believe there is still a lot to be achieved. |
