If the Vacqueyras appellation stood only for one talent it would be finesse. The wines distinguish themselves with this delicate frame which make them so unique.Just a few years ago we found 3 core vineyard partners willing to improve with the help of Jean-François.
Our vineyards are located on the slopes, with the same type of terroir as in Gigondas, this appellation's neighbor.
Jean-François works substantial portion of Syrah (40% in the blend together with Grenache) on the stony soils. Syrah has a better expression here than in Gigondas or Châteauneuf du Pape. We really like this Vin Rare with its dark ruby colour. It reveals bit by bit a surprising aromatic power and great variety of impressions. The tasting starts with juicy notes that develop towards white roses, green lemon and eucalyptus. Then follow aromas of menthol, pine tree, mashed grapes and stewed raspberries. The wine stays honest and resists surprisingly to airing. The palate starts tensed and finishes with freshness. A great finish concludes with perfumes of red fruit.
If you like hunting this will be the perfect wine to accompany wild boar or a roasted deer with mushrooms. More classical dishes like a "pot au fue" or bourguignon beef will be a marvellous match, too. Choose creamy cow cheese, from AOC appelation.Serve at 16°C
This will will reward cellaring until 2020. |
