| Gigondas was the first cru that opened its doors to us in 2004. We are thus particularly attached to this terroir and the people that welcomed us at a time when we had yet to prove ourselves. The Vin Rare 2009 is undoubtedly one of our best cuvées. It comes from selections from plots of very densely planted vines at higher altitudes (350m), oriented northeast for the most part. The color is dark red with slightly brown reflections. The nose has an incredible volubility that speaks openly of Provence. All of the aromas of the south and of the sun intermingle: pine, rosemary, thyme, small red fruits… Then comes a round of spices and subtle woody notes. The palate opens with a supple, ripe attack and then gains in power to finish on a note…that never ends. The blend brings together Grenache (80%), Syrah (10%), Cinsault and Mourvèdre (10%). We had fun with this wine for the maturation, playing with a mix of 1/3 cement tanks, 1/3 tuns and 1/3 burgundian barrels. |
