2009 CÔTE RÔTIE - VIN RARE

INTRODUCTION

Francois Dauvergne et Jean-Francois Ranvier are two young men keen on Rhône wines. They have created a new way of working as they built up technical partnerships with differnet vine-growers in order to give advises on the way to take care of the vines and to make the wines. They also select the plots they prefer and make their own wines into the cellars.

VINEYARD PROFILE

Côte Rôtie is one of the most famous appellations of the Rhone Valley. The granite soils are mostly situated on very steep terraces and can be labored only by hand. The average yield is very low with 38 hl/ha.

TASTING NOTES

Deep red with hints of violet.
Powerful nose with red fruits and slightly toasted smell.
Round, ample and very smooth palate. Delicate, very long finish with aromas of tobacco which succeed aromas of red current and licorice.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Our 2009 Cote Rotie has 2% Viognier in the blend in addition to the Syrah. Most of the blend comes from a plot situated in Ampuis ("Les Roziers") and is associated to other grapes coming from Tupin-Semons ("But de Mont"). The grapes have been fully destemmed and have macerated during 25 days. The wine has been aged during 14 months in barrels.
