2011 Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Gewürztraminer Lot 170 add to summary
89 points. Bright yellow-gold. Bright aromas of mango, lichee and smoked pork. Rich and suave in the mouth, with rich tropical fruit and spice flavors leavened by stony minerality. Enticing, balanced and persistent. Olivier Humbrecht makes it clear that he likes gewurztraminer with a meaty, smoky grilled bacon personality, rather than the floral stuff. "Would you want to drink rose water?" he asks.
International Wine Cellar, 12/2012

2011 Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Lot 150 add to summary
88 points. Bright yellow. Apple and pear on the nose and palate, plus notes of smoke, nuts and spices. Could use a bit more concentration and nuance. This was bottled in July and will be available in the U.S. market, with Lot 151 following in December. The latter would normally have been part of thePinot Gris Calcaire bottling but Olivier Humbrecht decided simply to call it pinot gris like the 150 since it sold out so quickly.
International Wine Cellar, 12/2012
2011 Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Lot 151 add to summary
91 points. Yellow-gold. Complex aromas of ripe pear, orange flower and rose petal. Creamy-rich and fresh on the palate, with pear and orange marmalade flavors framed and lifted by intriguing minerality. Sneaky concentration here. Finishes fresh and quite long. I find this much more intersting, and serious, than the Lot 150, and for drinking later than that wine. These grapes come in roughly equal quantities from Jebsal, Heimbourg and Windsbuhl.

2011 Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Riesling add to summary

2007 Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl SGN add to summary
97 points. Entering the arena of barely-wines, the now-bottled Zind-Humbrecht 2007 Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl Selection de Grains Trie Speciale spent two years fermenting plus an additional year in cask thereafter. Deeply-toasted walnut, honey, marzipan, caramel, and notes of exotic, aromatic woods lend the aromas a very dark, positively oxidized cast. Given the nature of those aromas – not to mention the wine’s 400 (!) grams of residual sugar – it comes to the palate with shocking vivacity; a cooling aura of mint and chamomile, glazed apricot akin to Esszencia; and a saliva-liberating salinity. Hints of toasted coconut and vanilla from the barrel manage to integrate themselves into the metaphorically dark, toasty elements that also persist in this wine’s splendidly multi-faceted and dynamically interactive finish. The dazzling complexity and the fascinating alternation of electric acidity and dark, torrification confound one’s expectations of wine with Esszencia-like analytic parameters. This will probably last for the better part of half a century.

91 points. An opulent, hedonistic wine, with an exotically perfumed nose of singed orange peel, clove and garam masala. The palate is intense and noticeably sweet but saved from being cloying by a core of fresh acidity. Try with a duck liver terrine.

95 points. An astounding wine, the 2007 Zind Humbrecht Clos Häuserer Riesling opens with a tightly wound bouquet of petrol, gardenias and lemon skin while the dry palate is packed with dense dried fruit and pear flavor. Long, long gardenia-scented finish. Despite all the concentration, it’s quite light on its feet and would pair well with Japanese cuisine. Can be drunk now (decanting recommended) but will show its best after five-plus years in the cellar.

2007 Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Turckheim add to summary
95 points. A real stunner; a full-bodied, ripe, luxurious expression of Riesling. There’s opulent fruit here and sweetness but the impression in the mouth is dry and steely due to a laser-like undercurrent of acidity. Flavors run to petroleum and candied lemon peel, brightened up by a light cinnamon note. Long, long, long finish of applejack, butter and cream. Will benefit from decanting. Drinking well now but will improve over the next 10-plus years.
