The Sangiovese and Cabernet come together nicely in this harmonious, expressive red. Layers of dark fruit, menthol, spices and new leather flow to the fresh, vibrant finish. 94 points. Good full red. Very pure but subdued aromas of raspberry, rose petal and spices, along with a suggestion of chocolate. Then almost surprisingly plush and sensual on the palate, and distinctly sweeter than the 2007 classico, showing a flavor of cherry liqueur. Extract-rich and dense in texture without betraying any heaviness. Finishes with excellent spine and thrust and good medicinal reserve. This will need time to absorb its serious dusting of tannins.

The 2007 spent 24 months in 500-liter French oak tonneaux.

Suave and seamless but at the same time vibrant and light on its feet, with saline minerality and harmonious acidity giving shape and lift to the middle palate. This silky, sharply delineated 2007 Brunello shows a lovely restrained sweetness and finishes with excellent subtle persistence and energy. Quite stylish already but there's more to come.
