2009 Domaine Dugat-Py Gevrey Chambertin Premier Cru add to summary
91-93 Tasted out of barrel at the Domaine. This year Bernard’s Premier Cru is blended from Perrieres and Corbeaux as the Fonteny has been raised separately from the blend. It has a lifted bouquet with raspberry coulis, fresh strawberry and maraschino cherry with very fine definition, handling the oak better than the Premier Cru Gevrey at the moment. The palate is medium- odied with fine tannins, good structure here with spice and a touch of white pepper inflecting the dark berried fruit. Good precision on the finish. Very fine. Tasted November 2010

2009 Domaine Dugat-Py Gevrey Chambertin Premier Cru add to summary
91-94 The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru is a totally seamless, opulent wine that caresses the palate with layers of intense fruit. Full-bodied and rich to the finish, the 1er Cru is flat-out beautiful. This authoritative Burgundy will require patience, but it is striking in is harmony. In 2009 the 1er Cru is made from parcels in Les Corbeaux and Les Perrieres, as Dugat made the decision to vinify and age the Fontenys separately in this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2024-2039. Bernard Dugat farms 10 hectares of vineyards, 6.5 of which he and his family own outright. The Dugat-Py wines are breathtaking for their richness and depth. Despite their sheer concentration, the wines retain tons of vineyard and vintage character. These are some of the most viscerally thrilling, exciting wines I tasted on my recent trip through Burgundy. The only 2009 I wasn’t able to taste was the Pommard, which had been bottled just prior to my visit.
