2008 Seresin Pinot Noir add to summary
Davis Scale 16 This is a single vineyard selection from the Home Vineyard which surrounds the winery at the western end of the Wairau Valley. Planted on two terraces, this vineyard has a veriety of clay, shingle and alluvial free-draining soils. The vines from which this wine comes were thinned to carry 4 to 4.5 tonnes/ha. Picked 12 April. The Home Pinot Noir was aged in French oak barriques for apporoximately 15 months. 35% new. Pale ruby. Very sweet, intense nose. Quite rich and burly-nothing lean about this wine. Tastes as though the vines are pretty well established and with a powerful message to impart. Savoury finish on the wine that desperately needs food. Perceptible tannin still, and a hint of alcohol. I was confusing "home" with "entry level" wrong! 14%.
