2009 VACQUEYRAS VIN RARE

INTRODUCTION
If the Vacqueyras appelation stood only for one talent it would be finesse. The wines distinguish themselves with this delicate frame which makes them so adipsous.

TASTING NOTES
We really like this Vin Rare with its dark ruby colour. It reveals bit by bit a surprising aromatic power nd great variety of impressions. The tasting starts with juicy notes that develop towards white roses, green lemon and eucalyptus. Then follow aromas of menthol, pine tree, mashed grapes and stewed raspberries. The wine stays honest and resists surprisingly to airing. The palate starts tensed and finishes with freshness. A great finish concludes with perfumes of red fruit.

HARVEST NOTES
2009 is our first vintage as a Vin Rare. The grapes were hand-harvested on the elevated part of Vacqueyras (some more Grenache than Shiraz and a little Mourvèdre). The yield amounts to nearly 30 hl per hectare. All grapes were destemmed before fermentation. After one months of maceraton the wines were transferred into oak casks for about one year of ageing.
