Short bio

My life as a wine professional started just about 20 years ago, after my career in the music business ended. At first, I was a part time cellar rat in a wine retail shop while I was building my music empire. I left the wine shop once my music company got off the ground. After several years of recording, producing, publishing, touring, promoting, and managing all things music in Boston, it became apparent that the end of the music business as I knew it was happening and my music empire crumbled. I was offered a part-time job while walking down the streets of Waltham, MA with my newly born son on top of my shoulders. On my first day (for real) in the wine business, as a part time employee, two people at the store I was working at were fired and my job was suddenly full time. Wine has been a full time gig for me ever since!

How did you start in the wine business?

I was unemployed with a newly born son and needed a job, quickly! I was given an opportunity to work at one of the top wine shops in Greater Boston, learning from some of the best people in the business and tasting and selling a lot of wine. It was my undergraduate education in the wine business.

Best concerts of your life

There’s three: Macca with my wife and two sons at Fenway Park. Charles Brown (twice-once on my birthday at the Regatta Bar in Boston (he sang “Bad, Bad Whiskey” just for me), and again with his first, unbelievably rocking set at the old House of Blues in Boston). Eddie Palmieri with Tito Puente and Chuck Mangione at the Grammy after party in NYC in 1994, all while dancing with Taj Mahal’s lovely daughters (and Taj, too!)
