Ebner-Ebenauer
Deep in a four hundred year old cellar, a quiet, studious man weighs careful decisions to create exquisite wines from each of the special parcels in the Weinviertel. He asks his accomplished, exuberant wife to join him in crafting the perfect blends that reflect their passionate partnership.
Once upon a time…this is how fairy tales usually begin. But sometimes real life is a fairy tale, and that is the case for Marion and Manfred Ebner-Ebenauer. While the Ebner-Ebenauer label was born in 2007, when the two winemakers decided to share their lives, the history of winemaking in Manfred’s family stretches back fourteen generations. Today Ebner-Ebenauer is a mixture of old and new. The 400 year old cellar and modern style of the careful winery renovation. Traditional winemaking, gravity fed, gentle pressing. Using new methods when appropriate. “Respect the traditions but change if not useful.”

Winemaker's Notes
Refined Veltliner-aromas of white pepper, ripe apples and tropical fruit. Mineral salts on the palate accent the juicy, apply fruit and the powerful, well-structured texture. Full-bodied and commanding, the wine is luxuriantly soft, with a well-structured texture on the palate and a crisp interplay of fruit and acidity that remains extremely persistent.

Reviews
92 Points
An almost coniferous savoriness rises from the glass, boding freshness. A little spritz adds verve to the mild but fresh body, which seems to have a store of juicy, ripe Mirabelle plums at its core. The finish is long with lemon and yeast.
91 Points
From Muschelkalk limestone soils, the 2018 Grüner Veltliner Hermanschachern is pure, dense and tight on the mineral, lemon-fresh and zesty, terroir-driven nose that is remarkably precise and coolish for this warm vintage. Lush, round and piquant on the filigreed but firmly structured palate, this elegant Veltliner reveals a sustainable finish with fascinating minerality and nuance as well as tension. Truly excellent and so peppery! Tasted in January 2020. Drink 2020 – 2030
