Tiberio

The story of Azienda Agricola Tiberio rings more like a new world tale than one from the old world of the ancient lands beneath the Majella and Gran Sasso mountains in Abruzzo. At 350 meters, twenty three miles inland from the seaside city of Pescara near the hillside town of Cugnoli, Riccardo Tiberio found an old plot of Trebbiano Abruzzese vines roughly 50 years old so impressive that he decided to change his and his family’s destiny.

VINOUS FAVORITE September 2022

The dreamy 2020 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo seduces with a classic bouquet of crushed rocks, violets, lavender, hints of blood orange and nuanced strawberry fruits. It envelopes the palate with textural, ripe wild berries that give way to a caking of minerality that creates a crunchy feel toward the close. Elegant to the very end, the 2020 finishes lightly structured with concentration, yet also dazzling floral perfumes that linger impossibly long. This is simply stunning and a perfectly complete Montepulciano.

Impenetrable crimson. Pure blackberry fruit on the nose with a subtle layer of liquorice powder and bags of minerals. With aeration, notes of wild strawberry emerge. Gorgeous lift of blackberry fruit on the palate and firm but finely ground tannins that go on and on. Very long and gripping finale. 2022 – 2032
