BACk TO TEAM PAGE Rebecca Wheeler Regional Sales Manager - New England

Short bio

Born and raised (mostly) in Alexandria, VA while my Naval Aviator father worked at the Pentagon, I’ve grown up moving around and traveling the world – whether in the back of my parents’ van or in a Space-A military plane to somewhere far away for a spontaneous adventure. Learning the value of a dollar working in restaurants as a teenager sparked a love for the glittery, sometimes sloppy romance of the hospitality industry – often finding comfort in books like Gabrielle Hamilton’s ‘Blood Bones and Butter’ and Anthony Bourdain’s ‘No Reservations.’ Keeping this side-hustle mentality through college, I found myself in Boston studying Advertising & Psychology but finding the wine & beverage business so much more interesting. Fast forward through floor-somm gigs, distributor rep positions eventually landing in luxury wine importing, & at last I feel I am home. In my free time you can find me watching F1, lifting weights in a gym, cooking up a storm at home with my cat but most of all running around the globe with my man.

How did you start in the wine business?

Like many of us, I fell in love with the wine business through the hospitality and food industries – working for a bakery at 15 all I wanted to do was make the omelets. When I started as a server at a converted grain house for an Irish farm-to-table chef, I realized how colorful food and wine and the stories of their provenance could be. Fast forward to college, I stumbled into a wine theory course that I aced, decided to take the Certified exam with CMS and… the rest is history. Fun fact: I’ve never applied into any job outside of wine, beverage sales, or hospitality of any kind.

I would buy property all over the world & keep eating and drinking the finest things I can get my hands on. Probably buy a Porsche 911 Turbo S in matte purple and a small exotic cat.
