A Telleira

Founded in 1940, Finca Reboreda, which produces the A Telleira wines, is the largest private wine firm in D.O. Ribeiro. Finca Reboreda is credited with being pioneers for quality wine in the area. José Luis Méndez and his daughter Ana are leading the way as one of the most progressive and well regarded wineries in Galicia.

The A Telleira vineyard is made up of 40 hectares (98.84 acres) on the Miño River west of the provincial capital and ancient Roman mining center of Orense. Soil types are alluvial and stony near the river with outcroppings of slate, granite and chalk on the higher west-facing slopes. Varieties planted include Godello, Mencía, Treixadura, Torrontés and Loureiro.

The Méndez family also purchased the Albariño super-estate Adegas Morgadío in 1996.

Best Spanish White Wine 2023 - Points

Spain Ministry of Agriculture, October 2023

Wine News, October, 2023

90 Points

Pale straw to the eye, this wine offers a bouquet of nectarine, honeysuckle and thyme. Fresh peach and pineapple flavors are joined by vivid acidity and notes of stargazer lily and river rocks that evaporate into a bright finish.

91 Points

This very pale white gold colored Godello opens with a pineapple and bosc pear bouquet with hints of lychee and honeysuckle. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, smooth, and viscous. The flavor profile is an Anjou pear and saline blend with notes of green tea and green apple. We also detected hints of grapefruit pith and chalky minerality. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity displays very nice length.
