Collazzi – 2022

Region: ITALY - TUSCANY

Collazzi

Villa Collazzi is one of the most impressive estates in all of Tuscany. This architectural landmark was originally designed by Michelangelo in 1560 for his friend, Agostino Dini. It offers commanding views of the surrounding countryside. I Collazzi is a property of the Marchi brothers, Carlo and Bona. During the last decade the Marchi brothers invested heavily in the development of Collazzi’s farming business, renewing the vineyards and restructuring the cellar, with the goal of producing excellent wines. Collazzi produces grapes from this esteemed estate only; a super-Tuscan blend called Collazzi, Chianti Classico named Bastioni, and a select few additional bottlings.

The 2022 Collazzi is superb. Bold and exuberant, with terrific persistence, the Collazzi has a lot to offer. Plush contours wrap around a core of red plum, mocha, blood orange, espresso and a kiss of French oak. Best of all, the 2022 will be ready to drink with minimal cellaring. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot works so well. 2025 – 2034

A lightly chewy red with aromas of cherries, plums and tobacco. It’s medium-bodied with excellent depth and a subtle and delicious finish. No hints of dried fruit from the hot vintage, just currants, sage and orange peel. Drink now.

Supple in texture and almost viscous, this red oozes with plum, blackberry, oak spice and leather flavors. A bit shy on the finish now, with balance and presence. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2033.
