Reviews

17.5/20 Points

Cask sample. Impressively deep, concentrated ruby. Very closed with only hints of oatmeal on the nose and shy but pure cherry. Backward, concentrated and fine and really ripe without going over the top. Fantastic succulence and bags of grainy tannins. Very pure and concentrated and tannic on the finish.  Tactile fireworks.

Red cherry, strawberry, rose and spice flavors are augmented by tobacco and iron notes in this elegant, detailed red.  The aromatic and sweet fruit elements are deftly matched by refined, ripe tannins.  Terrific length.  Best from 2019 through 2035.

Rosso’s 2013 Barolo Cerretta shows the intensity and breadth this site is capable of. Dark red cherry, plum, menthol and spice all open up in the glass, buffered by big tannins that give the wine its distinctive shape. Powerful and driving in style, the 2012 needs at least a few years in bottle to be at its best.

Packed with sweet strawberry and cherry flavors, this red also deals leather, tobacco and tar notes from a well-structured deck.  Tightens up considerably on the finish, a good sign for future development.  Best from 2020 through 2038.
