Aiming to make elegant wine in Bierzo, Losada Vinos de Finca sought out old Bierzo vineyards traditionally planted on clay soils. Losada was established on the outskirts of the village of Pieros, on the St James pilgrimage route, midway between Cacabelos and Villafranca del Bierzo. The company also owns vineyard plots, planted mainly on clay soils round Valtuille de Arriba, where grapes for Altos de Losada are produced. The philosophy is to extract to maximum expression from the region’s terroir via the painstaking selection of estates and vineyards. Complexity and elegance are the grassroots of the Losada Vinos de Finca project.

Harvest Notes
  • Prefermative maceration for 8 hours
  • Fermentation with only indigenous yeasts at 16 – 18º C in stainless steel tanks and used 500 liter French oak barrels
  • Aged on fine lees 5 months, 70% in stainless steel, 30% in used 500 liter French oak barrels
Winemaker's Notes

Light yellow color with shining gold tones. A beautiful, complex godello wine, white flowers and delicate white fruit aromas like pears, complemented by notes of anise, liquorice and fennel seeds. Great structure from the mineral-rich slate soil gives the wine a crisp acidity.

Pair with light, delicate foods like raw and lightly cooked crab and prawns, steamed or grilled fish, and pates.
