The Wine

Vineyard Profile
  • Madre vineyard, of about 11 hectares, has been planted partially in 1997 and partially in 2001, with mainly Sangiovese and, on a smaller surface, with Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • The vine density varies from 5,000 to 6,000 vines per hectare.
  • About 5 hectares of this vineyard are dedicated to the production of our new wine Madre, made with 50% of Sangiovese and 50% of Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • The wines obtained from these two varietals are aged separately for 18 months in 500-liter French oak tonneaux and they are then blended together.
  • Once bottled, Madre refines in the bottle for an additional 12 months before it is released.
Winemaker's Notes
  • Madre is a wine with a very intense ruby color, with purple reflections.
  • Its bouquet is concentrated, with black ripe fruit, cocoa, coffee and spices.
  • On the palate it is dense, structured, warm and youthful.
  • Madre can already be enjoyed, but may also be aged for a long time, further improving its characteristics.
