With wine making in his family blood, Vito Lauria decided to attend the University of Udine in Friuli where he obtained a degree in Enology in 2003. After stepping off the campus he worked at a number wineries in northern Italy for a few years before returning to Sicily in 2005. Vito came home to open the old family winery in Alcamo, 30 miles west of Palermo.

The Wine

Vineyard Profile

The Grillo vineyard, whom gave birth to the famous Marsala, has always grown on flat, warm and placid lands around Trapani.  Its recent “migration” towards Alcamo and its happy arrival to the hills marks a pleasing evolution of its fragrance.

Harvest Notes
  • Harvest: End of August
  • Vinification: Maceration at a cold temperature for 24 hours, fermentation at 55°F for 15 days
  • Ageing: 6 months in stainless steel
Winemaker's Notes
  • More citrusy and fresh, both on the nose and on the palate.
  • Golden with curious greenish reflections intriguing to the sight.
  • Grillo perfectly expresses the meeting with these new lands and Sicily bringing with it the tropical aromas of pineapple, the slightly sour zest of grapefruit, and the aromatic herb of sage and mint.

Bright golden-tinged yellow. Fresh aromas of grapefruit, sage, and mint soar high on the perfumed nose. Juicy and lively with similar flavors to the aromas. Features a nicely lingering zingy finish.
