With wine making in his family blood, Vito Lauria decided to attend the University of Udine in Friuli where he obtained a degree in Enology in 2003. After stepping off the campus he worked at a number wineries in northern Italy for a few years before returning to Sicily in 2005. Vito came home to open the old family winery in Alcamo, 30 miles west of Palermo.

The Wine

Vineyard Profile

The Grillo vineyard gave birth to the famous Marsala, and was traditionally situated on flat, warm and placid lands around Trapani. It “migrated” towards Alcamo, 50 km west of Palermo, and into the hills. The additional altitude now brings a freshness to the Grillo vines.

Winemaker's Notes

In the glass, golden with greenish reflections. Freshness in the nose with more pronounced tropical notes along with aromatic mint and sage. Pineapple and richer flavors communicate the taste of Sicily.
